To facilitate this transition:

Specialty Medications

It is essential to keep your medications in a safe place, out of reach of children and pets. Check the packaging to see if the medication needs to be refrigerated or if any special storage conditions are required. If you have any questions about how to store your medications or their stability, we are here to help and provide you with the necessary information.

Chronic illnesses are long-term conditions that typically last a year or more and require ongoing medical attention. They may also limit a person’s ability to carry out daily activities. Unlike acute conditions, which appear suddenly and resolve quickly, chronic illnesses develop gradually and can last a lifetime. Managing chronic conditions often involves long-term treatments such as taking medications, making lifestyle changes, and having regular check-ups with healthcare professionals.

Specialty medications are used to treat a range of chronic, complex, and rare conditions, such as autoimmune disorders (like rheumatoid arthritis and lupus), certains types of cancer (such as leukemia and lymphoma), rare genetic diseases (including neurofibromatosis, pulmonary hypertension, and Pompe disease), chronic inflammatory diseases (for example, Crohn’s disease and psoriasis), and complex neurological disorders (such as multiple sclerosis). These medications are specifically formulated to target particular aspects of these health conditions and require precise handling and administration.

Please know that you are free to choose the pharmacy you usually deal with. At Pharmacie Martin Gilbert, we believe strongly in your right to choose.

If you wish, we would be happy to support you throughout your treatment with your specialty medication.

If you prefer to work with your regular pharmacy or another pharmacy instead of ours, you can inform your patient support program, and they will send your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice.

Yes, your local pharmacist can refer you to a specialty pharmacy if needed, as they are usually familiar with the specialized pharmacies in your area. Specialty pharmacies have specific expertise in managing complex treatments, such as medications for rare or chronic diseases.

Don’t hesitate to ask them for guidance!

Insurance & Payment Options

If your insurance does not fully or partially cover the cost of your medications, you may be eligible for financial assistance through your patient support program. Upon opening your file at Pharmacie Martin Gilbert, we will verify your eligibility and submit claims to your insurance plan. A member of our team will inform you of your out-of-pocket amount for the medication(s), and we will proceed with your patient support program to determine if they will cover the uninsured portion.

For more information, please contact us at 450-844-4679 ext. 2 or 1-877-522-4679 ext. 2.

Accessing financial coverage for specialty medications can be complicated due to their high cost, variations in insurance coverage, authorization requirements, restrictions on the list of eligible medications, and differing reimbursement policies of healthcare systems and insurers.
