Reimbursement Specialist – Specialty Pharmacy
Job summary

An Insurance Specialist at Pharmacie Martin Gilbert is responsible for managing and optimizing the administrative and financial processes related to private and public insurance plans, as well as patient assistance programs within a specialty pharmacy setting. Their primary role is to facilitate access to specialized treatments by reducing financial barriers and ensuring compliance with required processes.

Tasks and responsibilities
  • Verify eligibility and coverage under both private and public insurance plans.
  • Communicate with patient support programs to obtain free medication doses and financial assistance for patients.
  • Process retroactive billing following insurance approval.
  • Prepare and submit prior authorization and special authorization requests.
  • Follow up on claims and resolve denials or discrepancies.
  • Communicate with patients to explain costs, funding options, and timelines.
  • Collaborate with the pharmacy team to deliver exceptional patient service.
Skills and qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 to 2 years in a similar role (pharmacy, insurance, or healthcare).

  • Education: High school diploma completed.

  • Strong knowledge of private and public insurance plans.

  • Good understanding of pharmacy practice and prescription renewals.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple files simultaneously.

  • Proficiency with computer tools and billing systems.
